أكدت الأمين العام التنفيذي للمنظمة التنموية للطاقة المتجددة التابعة لميثاق الأمم المتحدة غدير الصقعبي أن الاحتفال بيوم الأرض هو رسالة يرسلها المهتمون بالشأن البيئي إلى الشعوب بأهمية الحفاظ على الأرض من خلال تقليل التلوث والانبعاثات الغازية الضارة، وتوفير الطاقة واستخدام الطاقة النظيفة. وأشادت الصقعبي بتوجه الحكومة الكويتية إلى استخدام الطاقة المتجددة، مثمنة جهود و اهتمام سمو الأمير ودفعه الجهات المعنية ممثلة بمؤسسة التقدم العلمي ومعهد الأبحاث ووزارة الكهرباء لانشاء محطات طاقة متجددة تعتمد على طاقة الرياح والشمس وغيرها من طاقات متجددة، ما يوفر طاقة كهربائية بنسبة 15% من احتياج الكويت مستقبلا. وأضافت في تصريح لها بمناسبة احتفال العالم بيوم الأرض أنها تتمنى لو سعت الحكومة لتأسيس المزيد من هذه المحطات الصديقة للبيئة لتحقيق الاكتفاء من الطاقة المطلوبة في الكويت، مؤكدة أنها خطوة على الطريق الصحيح. وأشارت إلى أن مصانع السيارات أنتجت سيارات تعمل بالطاقة المتجددة كما أن مصانع الطائرات تسعى لانتاج طائرات بالطاقة النظيفة أيضا فالطاقة المتجددة هي المستقبل بعيدا عن ملوثات الوقود، موضحة أن أول طائرة بالطاقة المتجددة قامت برحلة عبر العالم، فالحفاظ على هذا العالم أصبح مسؤولية الجميع بعد كم التلوث الذي أحدثه الانسان وساهم في اختلالات الغازات في الغلاف الجوي كما ساهم في ظاهرة الاحتباس الحراري. وأوضحت أن انبعاثات الأجهزة المنزلية ساهمت في تدمير البيئة الطبيعية ولذلك هناك حاجة ليتكاتف الجميع لانتاج نوعيات من الأجهزة والتقنيات التي يستخدمها الانسان تحافظ على الأرض، هذه الأرض التي خلقها الله رائعة في كل شيء وخربها الانسان بحروبه واستخداماته السيئة وأدواته التي أثبت العلم مدى ضررها. وأشارت إلى أهمية تكاتف جميع الحكومات في العالم لتقليل الانبعاثات الضارة التي سببت الاحتباس الحراري والعمل على زيادة الرقعة الخضراء التي تجعل أرضنا تتنفس برئتين سليمتين غير ممتلئتان بالأدخنة والغبار المحمل بالملوثات، لافتة إلى اتفاقية باريس لحماية الأرض من التلوث والتي جاءت لحماية البيئة في العالم . وقالت “ازرع ولو نبتة واحدة تساهم في تعافي الأرض”، متمنية من الجميع أن يبدأوا في التعامل السليم مع بيئتنا فهي شريان حياتنا.
